1. Many PDF files posted on the Internet (including tens of thousands of U.S. government forms) have XFA architecture.
2. At first glance these files seem no different than normal PDF files: same PDF extension, same appearance, seemingly same functionality. However PDF files with XFA architecture are created by different technological methods, have a different functionality, set certain restrictions to file operations, and cannot be manipulated and viewed in the same way as normal PDF files.
3. The XFA architecture was never standardized by ISO (International Organization for Standardization) and has been deprecated by ISO in 2017.

4. The XFA architecture may be static or dynamic. The existing browsers (Mozilla Firefox, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, etc.) are unable to open PDF files with dynamic XFA architecture.

5. Trying to view such files in a browser results in an error message, such as 'Please wait..' or 'Adobe Reader 8 or higher required..'
The text of the error message depends on the browser.
6. To view your file ignore the above error messages, download your file, then open it in either Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat.
